There’s a version of this About page that leads with credentials and acronyms. I could do that. But I think what you actually want to know is simpler: can you trust what a beauty blog says, and why?
Here’s the honest answer. I have spent more than twenty years reading the research and watching the gap between what science actually shows and what reaches everyday routines — and the gap is enormous. It’s especially large in beauty and wellness, where marketing is dressed up as evidence, trademarked ingredient names are presented as proof, and the word “proven” has been used so loosely it means almost nothing. I started glamlifemd because I wanted to do something different: bring real rigour to the beauty and wellness questions women are actually asking.
Why a science-first approach
Hair loss, skin changes, fatigue, and inflammation are rarely isolated cosmetic concerns — they are often signals from interconnected systems in the body. Most beauty content treats the surface presentation. The Glam Life MD reads those signals in their full biological context, because that’s where the real answers live.
That lens — whole-body thinking, root-cause reasoning, the way one system affects every other — shapes everything written here. When this blog talks about the role of protein in hair growth, or chronic inflammation’s effect on skin, it is talking about mechanisms documented in published research — not theory dressed up as advice.
What this blog is actually about
The Glam Life MD covers hair, skincare, beauty, and wellness — but always through a scientific lens delivered in plain, warm, accessible language. I am not here to lecture. I am here to be the brilliant friend who happens to have read the studies, who will tell you honestly what the research shows and what it doesn’t, and who will link you to products she actually believes in when the science earns the recommendation.
Every post on this site is built around a few principles I refuse to compromise on. Science citations come from independent reviewed journals — PubMed, JAMA Dermatology, the Journal of Dermatological Science, Phytotherapy Research, the AAD — not from brand-funded studies dressed up as independent evidence. Products are mentioned in context, after the mechanism is explained, never in a vacuum. And the internal foundation always comes first: no topical ingredient performs optimally in a body that isn’t being nourished and isn’t managing inflammation. I write about that foundation in every single post because I believe it, not because it’s a formula.
The affiliate relationship — full transparency
Yes, this blog uses affiliate links. I partner with MONAT and Unicity — two brands whose product formulations I find scientifically credible and whose ingredients align with the mechanisms I write about. When you purchase through my links, I earn a commission. I want to be completely transparent about that because I think transparency is what makes affiliate recommendations trustworthy rather than suspicious.
What I will never do: recommend a product because it pays well. What I will always do: explain the ingredient mechanism first, cite independent research, be honest about what the evidence supports and what it doesn’t, and only link to products where the formulation logic actually makes sense. If the science doesn’t support it, I don’t write about it. That standard is non-negotiable regardless of what any brand relationship looks like.
A note on how I write
You will notice that the posts on this site don’t read like a textbook. That’s deliberate. Complex science only matters if it’s explained in language that actually lands — that changes how you think about your routine, not just adds to a pile of information you can’t act on. That skill is what I bring here. The science is rigorous. The language is human. That combination is the whole point of The Glam Life MD.
If you have a question about a specific ingredient or a product I’ve written about, the comments section on each post is the best place to ask. I read them. I can point you toward the right questions to be asking — and I can tell you honestly what the published evidence does and doesn’t show.
Welcome to The Glam Life MD. I’m glad you’re here.
